The Inca were based in South America and had the biggest empire of the ancient American empires. They called their empire Tawantinsuyu, which means "four parts together". They had amazing road systems and a different way of farming. They began in 1400ce(common era) and fell in 1532ce.They had a king who they believed was the son of the sun and he owned everything. Their capital city was Cuzco, which might have had 300,000 residents at the height of their empire's power. They covered 2,500 miles and to get around, they had a huge road system that spanned their empire. The Inca were great stone cutters, so good their buildings did not need mortar or plaster to hold them together. In fact, some of their buildings still stand today. The Inca were polytheistic, like the Maya and Aztec. The Inca had no written language, so finding out about events in their past is slightly harder. They were conquered by a Spanish Conquistador named Francisco Pizarro. Some pure-blooded Inca still live today and some of their customs still exist today. The Inca were the most advanced civilization in South America at their time!
